M.D., FACS
Medical Director & Board Member
Board-certified physician and surgeon with over 38 years of clinical experience in the US and overseas in Africa and Haiti; he obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 1979. He brings the competence and compassion of having worked with people in the most impoverished parts of the world. 

PharmD, Board Member
Dr. Cornelius Pitts is the president and one of the founding directors of Miriam Medical Clinics. He also directs the Pharmaceutical Care Program at Miriam and holds academic affiliations with Temple University and the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Dr. Pitts is a graduate of the University of the Sciences’ Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, having earned both his undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from that institution. He served in various capacities at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals for 26 years, including as a director of neuroscience clinical research. Dr. Pitts has served on the board of the Health Promotion Council of Philadelphia and was chair of the NAACP Health Committee. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Center for Health Justice and Bioethics, where he studies health equity and health disparities.

Nursing Director & Board Member
Nurse Imms is a Clinical Research Coordinator and Psychiatric Nurse with the University of Pennsylvania Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety. She has practiced as a psychiatric nurse for over 30 years and has conducted clinical research in depressive and anxiety disorders for the past 20 years. Recognized as an expert in patient relations, counseling and behavioral issues, she brings vital resources to address psychiatric disorders often overlooked in our communities.

Board Member
Albert Littlepage brings a broad range of experience from management, training and community advocacy. He has worked in Airport Security, Prison Reentry Programs, and as an OSHA supervisor. His education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Lancaster Bible College and Associates Degree in Leadership Development from Harcum College. He has served as a Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) instructor and is well acquainted with the Point Breeze Community in which is home to Miriam Medical Clinics.

Board Member
Dennis Mashindi achieved a Master of Public Health w/ concentration in Global Health & International Development at the University Of Pennsylvania Perleman School of Medicine. He has been an advocate to address health care disparities in African and Caribbean communities in Philadelphia and has helped organize and facilitate Free Health Clinics as well as community health education seminars. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Shona.

Board Member
Bao Nguyen is an innovative and detail-oriented pharmacist with experience in the pharmaceutical industry, hospital, subacute rehabilitation, ambulatory care, perioperative operating room procedures and community pharmacy as well as public health settings. She graduated from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health at Boston University School of Public Health.
